lightly along with the crystal. He has also checked the movement for
accuracy and problems, if any.

excellent time and has been regulated by our watchmaker. Also comes with

Title: Extra Nice Seiko Bellmatic Alarm, Ca. 1970
Description:
EXCELLENT condition. Large gold plated watch in great shape.
Certainly not used much in 40 years. Mint plus dial just radiates. It is
vertically silvered with perfect lum dots at each raised, gold plated
indice. They have black on top as do the hands along with the lum. One
tiny nick on the lug at 5. Perfect, thin, slightly domed high grade crystal could be a
replacement as it is like new. Some faint nicks and scuffs on the
bezel which has a polished finish, not brushed like the lug tops. Automatic alarm watches are very hard to make and
are very
expensive if Swiss. Their movements are very affordable still
considering how well they work and their longevity. Good quality, just not
highly finished like Swiss movements. Quick set day and date. Inner
rotating bezel sets with crown increment for alarm. Small lum dots on
dial and some in the hands. You really have to see this dial to
appreciate it. On another topic, sometimes new customers ask about
repairs for vintage watches we sell and availability of parts. Like this
watch, we have quite a few examples in our parts bins of this exact
model but with worn out cases or ugly dials or both. I've included a
photo of two models which were right on hand. So, it is easy to repair
most stuff and get parts. The parts houses actually have a lot
on common movements too. On a brand new
Hadley Roma 2010 Alligator
strap. Take $45 off the price without it. Measures 39 mm wide (not including the
crown) x 44 mm long x 14 mm thick.

Title: Vintage Stainless Steel Seiko Navigator GMT Automatic
Description:
EXCELLENT condition. Sweet vintage sport watch with Seiko's
highly efficient automatic movement. No winding is necessary and to
emphasize that fact Seiko did not include auxiliary winding or crown
winding like most watches. Just pick one of these up and they start
running from the movement of the rotor. This has a rotating inner bezel
for timing or a 2nd time zone application. The GMT hand in red is a 24hr
hand and makes one revolution per day, not two like the hour hand. Quick
set date too which is nice on vintage watches as most don't have it.
Original dial and hands. The red is on the red and blue inner bezel is a
bit faded. A brand new Hadley Roma 892 self lined leather strap is included but you may choose another style
from our Accessories page if you like. Measures 41 mm wide (not including the
crown) x 45 mm long x 13 mm thick.

Buffed by another dealer and looking pretty nice with small nicks and
whatnot evident by loupe. Perfect original dial and hands. Notice the
center second hand is yellow. Also, the red is nice and bright. I notice
that sometimes the color on that red and blue bezel can fade. A new
rubber strap with a steel deployant buckle is included and it is highly
adjustable, fitting any size of wrist but you may choose another style
from our Accessories page if you like. Measures 41 mm wide (not including the

Title:
Wonderful Seiko World Timer 6117-6400 Auto GMT
Description:
VERYGOOD condition. Sweet watch in heavy screw back steel.
The crown like most Seiko autos does not wind the watch but quick sets
the date and moves the inner world time cities bezel. Seiko watches are
very efficient and barely require any movement of the wrist at all to
start running. Beautiful original dial. New correct crystal is mint. Red
GMT hand is short and may have been clipped or broken. It makes one revolution per day, not two like the hour hand does.
Comes with a new dark red and padded sport strap which compliments the
colored dial nicely. Measures 40 mm wide (not including the
crown) x 45 mm long x 13 mm thick.

Vintage Seiko 6309 Diver, Circa 1981
Description:
GOOD condition. Nice self winding watch in heavy steel
waterproof case, screw down crown and rotating bezel for timing taters
on the stove or dives into the deep blue yonder. I use them for the
former rather than the latter. The dial is original and about 95% or
better. The hands have just a little age showing in the luminescent
material. Nice bezel. Case unbuffed. Keeps excellent time as I've been
watching it. Some light clouding under the original crystal. A modern
Seiko rubber dive strap is attached. Measures 44 mm wide (not including the
crown) x 46 mm long x 13 mm thick.

Nice Refurbished Large Vintage Seiko Dive Watch
Serviced
Description:
EXCELLENT condition. This reference 6309-7040 has been to
Jack at IWW for a dial re-lum, service and light case buff. The hands
also have new luminescent material in them. Dating to 1977 this is an
automatic with 17 jewels and no auxiliary wind. This means that the
screw down crown will not wind the watch but this is not necessary as
any slight movement of the wrist will start the watch. It runs great,
has been
fully serviced, oiled and timed and re-lumed. The glass crystal is beveled and scratch
free. It even has the original thick Seiko spring bars. We'll provide a
nice strap when you call. A wonderful vintage timepiece easy to read at
night. Measures 44 mm wide (not including the
crown) x 46 mm long x 14 mm thick.

Title:
Rare 27j Seiko Automatic Alarm
Description:
VERYGOOD condition. Automatic alarm watches are rare and
always expensive. It is a lot of "works" to jam into one movement. This
model is a rare Japan only 27j version with a rotating inner bezel for
the light pleasant alarm ring which is purely mechanical. In other words
inside the case is a small hammer and long metal gong. No auxiliary wind
as it is not needed with the highly efficient auto movement. Winding the
crown as usual does add power to the alarm barrel though. To set the
alarm pull the crown out to the second increment and turn counter
clockwise. Push the crown back in and wind fully (for the alarm power)
then pull out the button at two. When the alarm sounds you can push that
button in to silence it. The day of the month does not quick set but the
day of the week will change fast in the old style which is to turn the
crown past midnight then back to nine and then repeat. Runs fine and has
its original bracelet. Would carry a strap well also. Measures 35.5 mm wide (not including the
crown) x 42 mm long x 12 mm thick.

Automatic Seiko Diver w/Original Bracelet
Description:
VERYGOOD condition. Japan made 7000-700J automatic diver with
screw down crown and original steel bracelet which is large enough for
an 8 inch wrist. Runs fine and is in very nice condition. The refinished
dial is nice and some of my Seiko buddies have informed me that the
bezel insert is aftermarket. May not be all original but it is still a good
price for a well made automatic diver. Measures 48 mm wide (not including the
crown) x 46 mm long x 13 mm thick.

Big Seiko 6138 Bullhead Chronograph
Description:
VERYGOOD condition. Very large and heavy with a superb black and
blue dial. Some scuffs on the case and some nicks on the edge of the
bezel. This style of Seiko will hand wind from the crown but it is
rarely needed as the automatic movements are very efficient. Quick set
day and date. The Seiko bracelet appears to be from a later time to me
and is only large enough to fit a 7 and 1/4 inch wrist. Measures 44 mm wide (not including the
crown) x 45 mm long x 17 mm thick.

New Old Stock 1972 Seiko 7016-5000
Description:
PRISTINE MINT condition. Basically untouched except for a handful of
hard to find and very faint handling scuffs. Sold to the original owner
at the PX in Hong Kong for about $60 US. That receipt, not shown
is included. This is a small watch for all its functions and a very
attractive design to say the least. By far the best arrangement for a
chronograph is to utilize two or more functions per dial, if a clean
uncluttered look is desired. This is achieved with the only sub dial at
six. The white portion and black hand count hours up to twelve. Outside
of that is another rectangular chapter in orange for 30/60 minutes. It
is a 30 minute recorder. The large center second hand is the 60 second
recorder. No usual seconds as is common. English day/date is quick set
by pushing in on the crown. Also shows Roman numerals for each day of
the week, I for Monday and VI for Saturday for instance. Dark green color almost looks
black in person but changes in light. Automatic movement ticks with
little motion. Best mid-sized to small chronograph design by Seiko by
far and in the best possible condition. Measures 37 mm wide (not including the
crown) x 42 mm long x 13 mm thick.

Vintage Seiko Bellmatic (mechanical alarm)
Description: EXCELLENT/NEARMINT condition.
Believe it or not these watches are hard to find. Why? In my opinion
this watch is way under priced for what it is. An automatic alarm is
rare. Try buying a Swiss make for under $1000. Nice piece with a good
steel case showing little to no wear and with its original brushed
finish on the lug tops. Original blue dial shows a little bit of age
with some tiny spots on the markers. The bracelet is unmarked but pretty
nice. This is an automatic mechanical alarm! And this version with the
rotating inner bezel is most desirable of the models made by Seiko. Measures 39 mm wide (not including the

Hard to Find Seiko World Timer
Description: I am sure there were plenty
of these watches made in the 70's but we seldom find them for sale these
days. This is a solid steel, automatic in good condition. I rate the
watch at about 85-90%. Original dial shows some spotting and there are a
few small nicks on the case, mostly on the back. The crown at four sets
the watch and the world timer bezel. Also quick-sets the time. It will
not wind the watch as these only wind through the motion of the wrist.
Runs fine and has a nice thick oilskin strap on it. It measures 41 mm wide (not including the crown) x 45 mm

Beautiful 38 mm 18k Pink Gold Verbana Chronographe Suisse
Description:
VERYGOOD condition. Gorgeous condition in pink gold and signed,
hallmarked and stamped. This genre is a lightweight watch with a metal
dust cover which doubles as an anti-magnetic device. The Swiss made,
hand wound Landeron movement is shiny and bright and hardly looks used.
It runs great and all of the timing/chronograph functions are working
properly. The original dial is fantastic and looks perfect and mint to
the naked eye. With magnification you may see some lost paint up around
the edge. I've not noticed this at all until the photos showed it. Still
can't see it without a loupe it is so small. This dial is really sweet.
It has pink numerals and indices placed in a raised track of sorts along
with a tachymeter, telemeter and other meters, all in fine colored print

Rare 1915 Sterling Silver Tiffany by Longines
Serviced
Description:
GOOD condition. This is a magnificent and rare early
Longines wrist watch, sold by Tiffany Circa 1915. The earliest wrist
watches ever made don't go back much further than this. Certainly a
fine, rare and unusual alternative to the usual vest pocket watch worn
by most gentlemen. In a gentlemen's square three piece sterling silver
snap back case with the original porcelain dial signed Tiffany and Co.
and Switzerland just above the subsidiary seconds bit which is at 6.
Near perfect but previously buffed signed case (see close up photos by
clicking on the image to the left) original silver cabochon crown and
cool new hands. The high grade hand wound Swiss made Longines Caliber
11.84N movement but does show light wash out where the nickel plating is
faded. This is caused by cleaning solutions. It has 3 adjustments and
also has been fully serviced, oiled and timed by our watchmaker.
This type of watch case although fairly tight in this example, is not a
type of case for water and dust resistance. In fact, my watchmaker
taught me that they are made to "breath" so that if a little moisture
enters, it can also exit when the environment equalizes. The original
spring bars with screws are also included along with a new brown watch
strap. Fantastic and rare time piece which could be worn by either a man
or a woman at this size. Perfect glass crystal. Comes with a one year
service warranty. Measures 29 mm wide (not including the
crown) x 35 mm long x mm thick.

Rare 1920's Silver Tiffany and Company Wrist Watch
Description:
GOOD condition. Very rare 1920's triple signed Tiffany
wrist watch. Perfect porcelain dial and nice high grade Swiss movement
(probably IWC, Agassiz or some other well known maker) although the
nickel finish appears washed out some (dull in brightness) from almost
100 years of servicing. The case is in good shape but does have a few
dings in the hinged back which is also signed and does have an engraving
of initials on it. Its been buffed quite a bit (the whole case). I would
be comfortable charging double for this watch in a fancy shop or if the
condition was slightly better. As it is I think this is a good price.
Add $75 for service although it runs fine and comes from a collector who
takes care of his watches. The crystal is glass and if you look closely
you might see some discoloration where the crystal fits into the bezel.
This is just old glue from the last time the watch had service or the
crystal replaced. Silver will patina to black but not discolor in this
fashion/brown. The hinged wire lugs are affixed with a special brand
new open ended Hirsch strap made for this kind of watch. Original crown
too in my opinion. Measures 31 mm wide (not including the
crown) x 40ish mm long x 10 mm thick.

Small Sized Tissot Three Register Vintage Chronograph
AS FOUND
Description:
VERYGOOD condition. Nice unusual size which has been buffed a
couple of times and still has some scuffs. I'll see if Wayne can give it
a light buff. About 34 mm which is not small for a vintage watch but
slightly small for a 1960's water proof, three register style. Beautiful
original black, white, red and blue dial with a Tachymeter in red.
The tachymeter or fine numbering in red from
1000 to 60, clockwise is used to measure speed traveling one mile (try
it from mile marker to marker on the highway, for instance if it takes
you 55 seconds the hand will stop just left of 65 on the tachymeter
which indicates that you averaged 65.5 mph in that mile). Original hands and lum too. The blue part is probably a
5 minute yacht timer. Signed screw on back with a 40502-8X reference
number. Lemania Caliber 1281, Incabloc shock protected Swiss made Tissot
signed hand wound chronograph movement has a serial number of 2.422.653
and runs great, keeping good time.
Signed original crown. A brand new
Hadley Roma black leather strap with
blue stitching is attached. Three register chronographs are usually
twice this amount, check the net! Measures 34.2 mm wide (not including the

Title: Extra Fine Tissot Sideral Automatic
Description:
NEARMINT condition. We are known for under grading and rarely
use NEARMINT when describing vintage watches because they practically
don't exist. Some dealers call every watch they sell near mint even
though the original finish has been lost to buffing and the dial has
been repainted/refinished. This watch is almost new old stock but was
owned by a collector and has not been worn much with no signs of wear at
all, only a faint scuff or tiny nick if you look very close. Original
brushed gold plated finish over steel with a water proof style screw on
back and high grade Tissot automatic movement. Click on the image to the

Large 24mm Lugged Tissot Seastar
Description:
GOOD condition. I can't recall the last time we had a
vintage time piece with a 24 mm lug width. 20 mm is usually the max for
vintage watches. This all steel Tissot automatic from about 1970 has
been completely refurbished by someone with a newly refinished black
dial which is very sharp and quite a bit of pitting on the back but that
is all sanded out (no rust or corrosion left). Bi-directional rotating
divers bezel and signed crown. We've left an inexpensive black strap on
but you may order another one from Hadley Roma if you want something
different. Runs great. Quick set date with a push of the crown
inwards. I probably shouldn't say this but I am not sure this dial was
black or in this style before refinishing. The style is seen often from
Asian dial refinishers and overseas dealers. It looks great though and
is very legible. Measures 39 mm wide (not including the

Extra Nice Large SS Tissot VisoDate
Description: EXCELLENT condition.
Probably sold originally by a dealer to a collector as new old stock as
the case is unbuffed with the original satin finish intact. There are
scuffs evident on the head, the back and some on the original steel
bracelet but the overall appearance is really nice. The orange dial
stands out and reads easily especially with the bright white second
hand. There is some age in the form of fading near the outer edge, the
minute chapter ring and after looking closely with a 10x loupe I think
it may have been re-finished but long ago. The indices are pure black.
This is a double quick set with a high grade Swiss made automatic
movement and a great watch for any collector, beginner or advance.
Large, unusual, nice shape with quick set. Signed crown. Fits my 7 and

Early Stainless Steel Wire Lug Tissot, Circa 1940

Description: VERYGOOD condition.
Condition becomes more important and valuable in older watches. So few
exist compared to the millions of other models made in the 60's (like
omega Seamaster watches for instance). This European sold/European
market hand wound Tissot is very different from the usual fare with its
heavy original wire lugs and original Roman numeral dial. Steel case
material is also good to find in old watches as it was harder to
manufacture than gold filled or gold cases. Fully signed Swiss made
three part snap back/bezel w/fancy lugs. Original in-house Tissot
Caliber 27 hand wound movement has 15 jewels, early mono-metallic screw
balance and 42 hour reserve. It has been fully serviced, oiled and

Cool 1960's Triton (Swiss Made) Automatic

Description:
GOOD condition. First time I have seen this unusual case
design. The lugs over the crown at 12 are hinged. Decent shape but
possibly worn for its original intention. Tool watches (divers, pilots,
GMT and world time) are often seen in this condition and are rare in
mint condition. The old Bakelite bezel is not quite as bad as the photos
show but overall the watch has age. There is a crack down at the bottom
and various nicks and chips. The automatic ETA Swiss movement works
fine and the watchmaker has gone over it, checking for problems. We have
installed a nice thick genuine crocodile strap with off color stitching
and a matching buckle. Measures 38 mm wide (not including the

1968 Tudor Submariner
Serviced
Description: EXCELLENT condition. This is what I call a $1000 lesson. The
lesson, given to my customers will cost us 1k compared to what most if
not all the other dealers out there would do. Most would call this
nearmint and report a refinished dial or maybe not even say that.
Further inspection would reveal a new dial and a new insert or bezel.
I've decided to report this information to my customers, telling it like
it is and ask half price. If you do a search you'll see original
reference 7016 Tudor subs selling for $2400 and up. The case on this
watch is nearly mint as you can see in the photos and is marked
properly. The correct ETA caliber 2483 automatic movement has 25 jewels
and is marked Montres Tudor, SA Geneva on the rotor as it should be. It
keeps good time but is at the watchmakers shop for service. A gorgeous
Hadley Roma python strap is

Rare Vintage Ulysse Nardin Chronograph
Description:
GOOD/VERYGOOD condition. This brand is very difficult to obtain
in vintage and very very expensive if purchased new. Finer Times vintage
watch web site has half a dozen or so and the chronographs, one similar
to this, are all around $2000. The time only UN wrist watches are priced
where this chronograph is priced. So, doing our market research reveals
a more than fair and special price for this fully signed gold topped
snap back chronograph. Some pitting on the steel back which you can see
in the photos and the dial which looks really nice may have been
refinished in my opinion (we don't refinish dials on our watches) at
some time. It is marked Swiss Made and has excellent fine detail
but...that's what I think. Runs great, keeping good time and times
properly using the flat gold plated pushers. This type of case with flat
pushers is not water or dust resistant and actually breathes through the
pusher holes. If it gets slightly damp from perspiration or humidity it
will dry out on its own accord if left in a warm dry place. This is
typical of earlier snap back watches or formed case watches and
especially flat pusher chronos. The crown is newer and easily gripped.
One of our finest Hadley Roma
straps is attached. Measures 35 mm wide (not including the
crown) x 41 mm long x 12 mm thick.

Universal Geneve Polerouter Date w/Rare Dial

GOOD condition. Really good looking fairly large
vintage timepiece from one of the more expensive manufacturers. Hard to
find cross hair dial with textured reflective minute track. It is
original and in fine shape. The all steel case however, has been buffed
half to death. Still lots of partly seen scratches. My guess is that
this watch was worn heavily for 5 or 10 years back in its day. Signed
original crown and screw on back. It functions with a rare Universal
Geneve Caliber 69 micro-rotor automatic movement. It has 28 jewels and
as you can see on the close-ups page the condition is quite nice. It
keeps good time and uses the old style quick set method. Move the hour
hand past midnight, back to nine and then repeat. Read more about

Title:
14k/SS Universal Geneve Polerouter Date
Description:
EXCELLENT condition. These watches (Polerouter) have really
gone through the roof in price recently and justly so. Universal Geneve
has always been a very high grade and expensive watch brand. From the
famous Compax, uni-Compax and tri-Compax chronograph watches to the
Golden Shadow gold dress watches in later years this manufacturer has
always had notable and fine timepieces. The Polerouter series was
commissioned for SAS pilots who flew the first route over the North Pole
from Copenhagen to New York in the 1950's. Gerald Genta, the renowned
watchmaker and designer created and produced the first models. Genta is
a well known and expensive brand today. In addition, the micro-rotor
automatic movement was produced in-house and revolutionary. The height
for a center second automatic was reduced (4.1 mm) as the individual
components did not have to be stacked on top of one another making them
more secure and robust and also easier to access. Later, in the 1960's
it was made even flatter (2.5 mm) and with more improvements. This is
the final model, a Caliber 69 and the best. The fluted bezel is solid
14k gold and this information is stated in small text between the lugs
which are also gold capped. The remainder of the case is steel and made
of one bowl shaped piece which is more water and dust resistant than a
two piece design. The original silvered dial is sweet but does have a
scratch near the 8 and some paint flecking on the outside edge. This is
barely noticeable to the naked eye and the watch has a very attractive
appearance in person. It runs perfectly including the old style quickset
date (move hour hand past midnight, back to nine and repeat) and has
been examined by our watchmaker. The inside of the case back reveals a
recent service mark from 2007. The crown is probably not original as it
is not signed. We have been slow to raise prices at WatchCat but when
the cost is so much higher for replacements, we have no choice. A brand
new $54.95 Hadley Roma Teju (MS801) genuine lizard skin strap is
included. Measures 34.5 mm wide (not including the
crown) x 40 mm long x 10 mm thick.

Hard to Find SS Vulcain Cricket
Serviced
Description:
EXCELLENT condition. Really hard to find all steel version of
a popular dress watch from the 1960's. The Vulcain Cricket can be seen in photos worn by Lyndon
Johnson and this is the original version of the modern
Revue Thommen Cricket alarm
watches which we see in the market place, mostly in the EU. The dial is original. Some spotting and general wash out type
loss of color. Having said all that, I've been looking at the watch on
my wrist and it looks pretty sharp. The case is almost nearmint and has
its original finish for the most part. It had not been buffed before
Wayne hit it very lightly. Original signed crown. New acrylic crystal
and what may have been the exact some style of mesh bracelet seen
on these back then although many wore the hair pulling Speidel expansion
or a leather strap. This bracelet was found on this watch but is not
signed Vulcain. It is plenty long enough for modern chunky wrists and
adjustable to any length. Wayne also serviced, oiled and timed
the in-house Vulcain caliber 12 O hand wound movement. The dial looks
better than the close-up photos and better than my general description.
At more than a foot the eye sees a faint tan-ish hue instead of the
pasty white in these photos. In its original position, turning the crown
clockwise winds the alarm while turning it backwards or counterclockwise
winds the mainspring for the movement. Pull out and turn COUNTER
CLOCKWISE to set the hands, hour and minute. With the crown fully
depressed/natural position, push in on the button at two and turn the
crown CLOCKWISE to set the alarm hand. Pushing the crown back in
activates the alarm. Push the button in slightly and the crown will pop
out to a neutral position and alarm will not activate. Measures 34 mm wide (not including the
crown) x 42 mm long x 12.5 mm thick. Comes with a one year service

Nice Big Vintage Vulcain Alarm
Description:
GOOD condition. Vintage Vulcain alarm watches are becoming
more and more collectible and hard to find. In-house hand wound
movements of this nature (with complications) are highly sought after.
This piece has a gold plated top/middle body and a double steel back.
The original dial does have some spots but these are not as "glaring" as
the close-up photo indicates. Some of the gold plating is worn off of
the alarm push button at 2. There are a few scuffs and light/small nicks
too. These alarms are very loud and robust, setting by turning the
normal crown after pushing in the button at two. The hands/time sets by
pulling out the crown and turning backwards or counter clockwise. In
addition, the watch winds backwards to power the mainspring and forward
for the alarm. An unusual watch, reasonably priced with a brand new
Hadley Roma genuine lizard skin strap in brown. Measures 34 mm wide
(not including the crown) x 43 mm long x 13 mm thick.

1960's Black and White Wakmann Triple Date
Triple Register Chrono
Description:
EXCELLENT condition. Sweet! Can you imagine what a watch like
this would cost if new? I contend that these Valjoux 72C/730 vintage
movements have MORE value than new models. Triple date, triple register
vintage chronographs are skyrocketing in value, except for this
particular watch. These cool Daytona style dialed chronos are still
marketed at the same levels as two years ago. Within 10% anyway. A good
investment grade timepiece with some buffing and a mint original dial.
Extra sharp movement too. New crystal, signed crown. Runs fine but
remember that one must NOT set any of the date functions on this
watch while the the hands are between 9pm and 4am. Runs fine and all of
the functions work properly. Measures 37 mm wide (not including the

Title: Sweet 1913 Porcelain Dial Wire Lug Waltham
Serviced
Description:
VERYGOOD condition. Sterling silver hinged case has a
dark patina which is what we like, I do anyway. Original large gold
(probably brass) easily gripped crown is somewhat rare. New acrylic
crystal installed by Wayne. New old stock hands (originals would have
been very similar), very rare wire lug strap and strap attachments are
probably from a few years later but very old and made for this specific
type of watch. The strap is leather and one portion/layer of it is
cracked through so it is not useable but I am including it for
historical reasons. We can find a new one to put on the attachments but
any will have to have a narrow lug width. My gal
collectors enjoy this type of watch. The porcelain dial looks perfect
but with a loupe I can see two faint hairline cracks. The Waltham movement
has been fully serviced, oiled and timed by Wayne and comes with
a one year service warranty. It has a beautiful damaskeened nickel
finish although the model 1907/grade 361only carries 7 jewels. PS. If
you think 7 jewels is is a low grade movement, perhaps you are right but
how low grade could it be to have lasted almost 100 years? I've made the
point before. 7 jewels is the minimum but the un-jeweled bushings are on
the slowest moving wheels of the train. If oiled properly they don't
wear quickly at all. This piece wasn't just used a little and set aside
either. It has case wear on the snap on back in the form of old one
piece strap striations (one piece straps were inexpensive and much more
common way back then, even up through mid-century than you might
expect), some little dimples and dings and light wrist wear. Measures 31 mm wide (not including the
crown) x 37 mm long x 10 mm thick.

Wonderful Large Sterling Silver Porcelain Dial Waltham, Ca. 1904
Description:
VERYGOOD condition. Extra nice large silver wire lug from
the early part of the 20th century. Called a Lady Waltham and marked on
the movement this high grade pocket watch movement was converted in the
teens probably to a wristwatch. Considered originals and having a superb
unmarred porcelain dial. The hands are original too and have had new lum
inserted by our watchmaker. The Arabic numerals also would have had
luminescent material in them back in the day. Most of these early wire
lug watches had less expensive movements. This gorgeous 17j Lady Waltham
has solid gold raised jewel settings, a solid gold center wheel, large
gold screw balance wheel and a fancy star regulator. It is not marked
how many jewels but I can count at least 17. The balance is capped with
what appears to be a diamond (clear, not red) capstone or endstone.
There is an inscription on the back, Dr. Frank Thomas. The crystal is
perfect and glass. Measures 33 mm wide (not including the

chrome. The back has all of the correct ordinance marks including AF for
Air Force, U.S. Army and dates to 1944. The 16j American made movement
works but the watchmaker says it needs help. Parts maybe plus service. The dial is original and is real nice to look
at in its simplicity. The hands are not hollow
with luminescent material filled in but painted solid. Unlike the skeletal hands seen on Army watches the Air
force thought this method might reduce the chance of crumbling particles
falling through, getting into the movement. A
nice new green canvas strap with a silver buckle is attached. Measures 31 mm wide

1944 Military Issue "Ord Dept"
Waltham
Description:
GOOD condition. This is a darn good military timepiece for

appearance of the chrome plated middle body. It goes well with the age
of this 60 year old watch. Waterproof design with a special dust cover
for the movement and waterproof screw back (with rubber seal) and crown
(also with seals). Of course, a vintage piece should never be submerged,
in my opinion. Original dial is rare as most are unsigned or say only
Waltham, not Waltham and 17 jewels. Fade marks in the shape of the hands
which appear to have been refilled fairly recently with luminescent
material. Keeps very good time and has a super cool old stock leather
strap in brand new condition. It is fairly long too. Measures 31 mm wide

original dial. The hands are original and perfect as are the Arabic
numerals. It runs fine, keeping very good time and has a neat old style
military canvas strap which was an improved version made to hold the
watch on the strap if one spring bar would happen to snap. The ORD Dept.

VERYGOOD condition. This watch is a little older than most mil

serial number this piece was manufactured and issued in 1942. The 17j
Waltham hand wound movement is a hack model which means that when you
pull the crown out to set the watch the second hand stops. This original
black dial is perfect although it is hard to see just how nice it is in

watch with the store name on the dial. Made this way originally from the
factory. Perfect itsy bitsy tiny text on the three outside
meters/timers. First the traditional tachymeter in blue
used to measure speed traveling one mile.
Next, in red are the numerals 1 thru 12 (km) with
12 near the top. This is a telemeter scale which is used to time
distance related to sound. For instance, to time the distance of a bolt
of lightning from its furthest point, push the button at 2 when you see
it strike and push the button again to stop it (the long center
chronograph hand) when you hear the thunder. Each division, 1-12 is 1 km
with the miniscule marks between the numbers representing 100 meters.
So, if you hear the thunder 10 seconds after the bolt the distance will
read 2 (km). Finally, on the very inside is a
black 0-60 graduation is for simple minute timing.
Extra fine steel case is heavy and unbuffed from what I can tell. No
scuffs, nicks or scratches excepting on small tool mark on the back.
Original circular sand marks and brushed sides still intact. The Swiss made
17j shock protected Wittnauer signed (Venus Caliber 88) hand wound movement is in perfect running
condition and keeps excellent time.
A brand new black leather strap is included. Measures 36 mm wide (not including the
crown) x 44 mm long x 13 mm thick.

Title: Hard to Find SS
Wyler Triple Date Automatic
Serviced
Description:
VERYGOOD condition. Triple date watches are getting hard to find
these days as collectors know a good value and are snapping them up.
Triple date AUTOMATIC watches in steel cases are really rare with a
few Movado examples seen in
the market place and that is about it. This is a nice large sized Wyler.
Large for the day which is 1940's, late or early 50's. Aged dial is the
original. Some obvious nicks and scratches on the case although Wayne
has buffed it lightly and it looks real nice in person. As does the dial
which has a spot near the 10, cool blue date chapter on the outside and
a good overall appearance at arms length. New acrylic crystal and easy
to grip crown along with some gaskets have been installed and Wayne has
also fully serviced, oiled and timed the Wyler movement (made by
A. Schild) which is Swiss and a rare caliber. Sub second dial makes it
easier to jam all those functions in the case as center second watches
require more wheels and parts. Holed lugs are easy to install straps and
heavy numbered screw on back. Case number 31951-8153. Measures 33.5 mm wide (not including the
crown) x 41 mm long x 12.5 x mm thick.

Title: Small Hand Wound
Wyler "Weatherproof"
AS FOUND
Description:
GOOD condition. This watch looks a little better in person
than these close-up photos show. Without magnification one can't see the
numerous small nicks and scuffs as well as in these blow ups. Some
polishing compound is still in the crevices. Lightly buffed. As Found
just means that we haven't opened it or had Wayne check it out but we
have checked it's timing for accuracy by setting the time and monitoring
and also by the timing machine in various positions. All of the watches
we sell tell time within reason +/- 60 to 30 seconds per 24hrs. This is
a 1940's small water proof and dustproof hand wound Swiss made Wyler
with a signed crown and really nice original dial and hands. Anybody
else out there selling vintage Swiss watches for under $70? Working for
my customers to find affordable watches in this tough time. Measures 29 mm wide (not including the

Unusual Hand Wound Wyler "Lifeguard" Dive Watch
Description:
VERYGOOD condition. Not found often with a two piece steel
waterproof (at birth) case and large screw down crown. there are quite a
few small nicks and dings although we have buffed them lightly. In
addition, this watch has a man's name and social security number
engraved on the back (Leslie Marx). Our watchmaker has also refilled the
original luminescent hands and examined the movement for accuracy and
condition. He has regulated it for time and added a new acrylic crystal.
The date is an old style quick set which means you can change it by
moving the hour hand past midnight, back to nine and then repeat. The
original dial does have some scratches and if you click on the image to
the left you'll find some close up photos which show the worst one over
the center pinion, extending left to the nine. All of the luminescent
dots on the outside of the markers are present. A brand new thick Hadley

Rare 1950's Zell Brothers Stainless Steel
"Turtle" Automatic
Description:
VERYGOOD condition. If you want to collect and wear a vintage
automatic wristwatch you should concentrate on at least these two
factors. Case material and rarity. I prefer steel to all else with gold
next and gold filled last simply because of the durable quality of
steel. It will not wear down like gold or gold filled cases. And it can
be buffed although it is quite an endeavor and requires a professional.
Rarity is important for any vintage purchase as it is less likely that
you will see your watch on some one else's wrist and if you decide to
sell the demand is greater for hard to find items. These watches were
made by E. Borel and retailed in the north west (Seattle) by a well
known jewelry store. As you can see by clicking on the image to the left
this Felsa base caliber movement has a unique regulator which is
explained on the inside of the signed screw back. It is a cool piece
with a date and it is affordable. Even the black strap is probably
original (unsigned) to the times. Large for the genre and having a very
nice two-tone original dial. Also, it is keeping very good time (less
than 5 seconds error per 24hrs according to the timing machine). Measures 34 mm wide (not including the
crown) x 44 mm long x 13 mm thick.

Excellent Stainless Steel Hand Wound Zenith Sporto
Description: VERYGOOD condition. Sweet
watch with a well made case including a fairly rare clear dust cover not
seen often on wrist watches. The dial is perfect really except that it
has been refinished. We know this in part because of the lack of tritium
on the markers (probably would have been a small dot of it on the
outside edge of each) and the T swiss made T at the bottom denotes
tritium so...also the un-aged appearance as it looks very new and fresh.
The hands appear to be original with aged lum inside. Beautiful shock
protected 18 jewel movement runs great and is a pleasure to view.

Hammer wind aka bumper wind with ruby bearings. Known as the lightest

original designs of direct center seconds and the minute wheel mounted

Beautiful Black Dial Zodiac Triple Date Moon Phase Automatic
Description:
VERYGOOD condition. This attractive and rare gold plated watch
would normally sell for about $800 here or in any reasonable retail
setting but because of the wear on the lug tips and tops near the end, I
have set the price quite a bit lower. The four push pins in the sides of
the case set the various complications. Push pin at 10 is missing its
tiny bezel but works perfectly setting the day of the week. The push pin
at 8 sets the phases of the moon. The push pin at 2 sets the month. The
push pin at 4 sets the day of the month hand with the red tip. The dial
is original with aged lum dots outside the markers and in perfect
condition. The moon dial also is perfect. Wayne our watchmaker has gone
through this time piece with a fine toothed comb and regulated it for
excellent time keeping. All functions work as they should and you might
know this but triple date moon phase Swiss watches are very expensive.
Automatic triple date moon phase watches are rare and even more
expensive. Any other vintage brand would be three of four times this
amount. Of course, you can pay triple this amount for the same watch at
Derek the tricky dick's website in Canada. Like many of our competitors
he has another job (selling real estate) and prices his watches
according to what the next unknowledgeable sucker might pay. Too bad if
you are one of those. We have installed a brand new

VERYGOOD condition. White rolled gold plate formed case with an
unusual lacquer of some kind and a steel back. Our watchmaker says this

crown) x 35 mm long x 10 mm thick.

Nice Zodiac Triple Date Moon Phase

VERYGOOD condition. Large size in steel. Extra nice condition
considering 50+ years age. Previously serviced by owner and keeping
perfect time. According to our timing machine it might gain a second or

have seen on a Zodiac moon phase in many years. It is easily 98%. Signed
"swiss made" on the bottom. Acrylic crystal. Hand wound 17 calendar
movement. Push pins set dates and moon dial. If you do a search for
Zodiac moon phase watches you will see the average price is more like
$700. Rapidly gaining value as are almost all unusual vintage watches.

Unusual Zodiac Seawolf
Serviced
Description:
GOOD condition. We don't see this design often and my guess
is that this is a transitional piece from the old round style seawolf
diver watches to the next generation cushion case "Super Sea Wolf" deep
diver which was a great dive watch btw. It is a nice piece except for
some pitting on the back. It is an automatic and runs fine. The day/date
is different and unusual on the original dial. The day quick-sets with a
push of the spring loaded crown and this is a hack set movement which is
pretty rare. There is some age/fading on the upper
right portion which can be seen easily in the photographs. Click on the
image to the left. The bakelite dive bezel is nearly perfect. Measures 36.5 mm wide (not including the
crown) x 42 mm long x 12 mm thick.

Extra Nice Zodiac Super Sea Wolf 2500 foot Diver
Serviced
Description:
EXCELLENT condition. Fully serviced and
restored by the previous owner. What that means to us is that besides
the movement having a service the case has been professionally buffed as
well. In fact, the only sign of age is on the bezel (90%) and the buffed
screw on back. The middle body has a brushed finish which is perfect.
The steel Zodiac bracelet is in pristine mint condition and it is
probably not original to the watch as I have always seen these on the
red dot or high beast Zodiac watches from the 70's. Could be, but I have
not seen this bracelet on this watch before. It is a great piece of
work, not cheap at all in its design and construction. Rated at 75 atms when new (one atm
is 34 feet of water pressure). Mineral glass crystal. Screw down crown.
This original dial is perfect and looks really cool. Measures 44 mm wide (not including the crown) x
50 mm long x 15 mm thick.

Vintage Zodiac Super Sea Wolf Deep Diver
Description:
EXCELLENT condition. Mint original dial and good bezel but there
is some air under parts of it. Signed bracelet may be more modern as it
just seems incorrect to me for a vintage dive watch although it does
have a diver's extension and it is also well made with solid comfortable
links. It is just long enough to fit my 7 and 1/2 inch wrist. This piece was
professionally restored sometime in the past as evidenced by the new,
perfect surface on the middle body. It isn't buffed but almost looks
like it was bead blasted. A very nice job. This is an automatic with a
mineral glass crystal which is held firmly in place with the steel screw
down ring (most crystals are pressure fitted). Rated to 75 atms. One atm
is 33 feet of water pressure. Measures 44 mm wide (not including the

desirable model. Gorgeous all original watch with 38 tiny diamonds, the

Interesting and Rare 1920's Silver Plated Hunting
Cased Form Watch Designed as a Golf Ball
Description:
GOOD condition. Patented in 1924 by James Reichenberg of
London this unusual "golf ball" watch employs a spring loaded cover
which opens by depressing the button at four. The spring mechanism is
still strong and the lid snaps open with authority. The large and well made Swiss case
is marked Argente or Silver Plated. It has a more modern, slightly aged wild
boar strap made for wire lug watches and is powered by the original
unsigned hand wound 15j Swiss movement in good running condition. The
case has a cuvette or dust cover (see pics/click on
image at left) and a hinged, snap on back which mimics the Reichenberg design on the front.
The original idea was as a small pocket watch but as wrist watches
became more popular some were converted with wire lugs added. The "crown guard" is actually the neck where a pocket
watch bow would have fit before the conversion. The white porcelain dial
is perfect and has gorgeous Arabic numerals in black with blued steel
hands. Measures 37 mm wide (not including the
crown) x 45 mm long x 18 mm thick.

One of a Kind Long Curved Antique 14k
Yellow Gold Doctor's Watch
Serviced
Description:
NEARMINT condition. One
of the finest "tank" shaped watches I have ever owned or seen. It is
early, probably 1930's and very long at 45 mm. It is a split dial or
dual dial watch and in near perfect condition with the original brushed
sides and glass crystal. The crown looks like a replacement and the dial
has definitely been refinished some time ago. Finally, this is no
lightweight case. It is thick and hefty with over 20 grams of 14k gold,
not including the movement (most gold cases of this type weigh 8-12
grams at most). The watchmaker stated that he had not seen a back as
thick and heavy as this. There are no markings except .585 (14k
percentage mark). Doctor watches are very expensive with gold filled
models selling for similar prices (Hamilton Sekron, Gruen Doctors etc).
It has an old hand wound Swiss made Fontainemelon Caliber 53 and it has been
fully serviced, oiled and timed. It carries a new old stock lizard
strap but I like this piece so much I have been wearing it some so the
strap shows some mild wear.
Measures 23 mm wide (not including the

material. This outstanding old chrono is a great investment considering

Hand Made and One of a Kind Watch School
Vintage Chrono
Serviced
Description:
EXCELLENT/NEARMINT condition. This beautiful steel chronograph was made by
student #932 aka Werner Siegrist in the winter of 1963. The school was
UHRMACHERSCHULE Solothurn or Solothurn Watchmakers School in Switzerland
which is what it says on the perfect (refinished) dial. The unique two
piece steel case is held together with four well placed screws (back of
the lugs). The best part of this watch is the one of a kind Valjoux SA
Caliber 23 chronograph movement. It is unique because the screwed
balance was hand made by Werner. It has a Breguet hairspring and is
Incabloc shock protected. The escapement axle was also hand made along
with the stem. The surface of the bridges/plates were decorated with a
special finish and with the students number. The movement was timed to
with-in chronometer grade time at the school. Right now it is a
few seconds fast according to the timing machine. Eight watches were
made at the Solothurn school that year, each one unique to the maker.
Who knows how many still exist? This watch was fully serviced, oiled
and timed in June, 2004 by the owner. It comes in a heavy wooden
Glycine box and has a nice new 18 mm black leather strap. Measures 35.5 mm wide (not including the

Title: Nice 16s Waltham
Pocket Watch, Circa 1912
Description:
GOOD condition. I used to carry this watch for the reliable
movement and legible dial. It does have pocket wear so I didn't worry
about adding to it and the 10k gold filled Keystone case is fairly high
grade with the well made crown, stem and bow.
Learn about gold filled cases
<HERE> The gold has worn down to a bit of brass on the back as
you can see in our close-up photos. Screw back, screw bezel with a nice
glass crystal. It is not original for this movement and that is why the
3 points at the crown. This movement was meant for a hunter case. It is
a nice 17j Waltham with a fancy star regulator and jewel settings held
in place with screws. It keeps good time and is set by the crown (not
lever set). The porcelain dial has a couple of hairline cracks but they
are not noticeable unless you look very close or have a loupe. Great
beginner or just every day time piece which dates to 1912 according to
the serial number. Measures 50 mm wide.

balance, safety pinion and a fancy regulator. The double sunk porcelain
dial is really sharp also with attractive Roman numerals and pretty
morning glory hands. It has one short hairline crack just right of the
12. The gold filled case is nice with light pocket wear (not through to
brass) on the edges and fancy decorations, including a garden scene with
a tiny farm in the center. Big thick glass crystal too which adds value.

Very Rare E. Howard (Keystone) Series 11 RR Chronometer
Description:
EXCELLENT condition. Really can't over state the condition and
intrinsic value a watch like this holds, in my opinion. The Keystone
Howards rate up there with Hamilton's 992B for quality and beauty. Also,
production numbers were lower than Hamilton so they are more scarce.
This model is unique with its special cut-out bridge plated movement and
RR Chronometer designation. Signed original white gold filled RR case is
very nice with no wear through to brass or even close. Three piece screw
on back and bezel with knurled edges for easy gripping. As a lever set
time piece it is nice to be able to remove the bezel for setting and
getting at the lever. Stunning mint original porcelain dial. Purchased
from the original owner who passed away and left it to his wife.

Yellow Gold 3 Finger Bridge Elgin Pocket Watch
Serviced
Description:
VERYGOOD condition. Sweet turn of the century (made in 1904)
solid yellow gold pocket watch. I've photographed the inside of the case
where you can see a presentation, inscription and also that it is not
marked 14k. It is probably 10k. Case manufacturers rarely marked 10k
cases. How do I know it is gold you might ask? Gold filled cases say
warranted for 20 years or guaranteed 20 years. This means that the thick
layer of gold is guaranteed not to wear through to the brass middle
layer for that period of time. Pocket watches were carried on a daily
basis and we see the first signs of what I call pocket wear on the
bottoms of the cases. If gold filled this will be darker in color as
brass oxidizes more than the gold layer. This can be polished so one
doesn't notice until oxidation occurs and you see this occasionally from
unscrupulous dealers. If you look at the nice design on the photo of the
back you'll see light smoothness at the bottom but no brass. This is the
best indicator that the case is solid material, not filled which is
three layers (gold, brass, gold). BTW, the "design" is actually fancy
initials which are hard to decipher but looks like the letters AVM.
Beautiful bridge plated movement has 17 jewels, safety pinion and is
adjusted. It has also been fully serviced, oiled and timed by our
watchmaker. A new glass crystal has also been added (hard to find and
expensive!). The original porcelain dial is nice but does have some
faint hairlines between the 1 and 2. I can't see these at all with my
naked eye. This is a 16s American made pocket watch. Measures 49 mm wide x 14 mm thick.

Title:
Very Rare Early Serial No. Key Wind/Key Set Elgin
Serviced
Description:
GOOD/VERYGOOD condition. This beautiful old pocket watch was made in
the first year of Elgin's production, 1867. It is a BW Raymond model no.
1 and has been fully serviced, oiled and timed by our watchmaker.
The serial number is 19 thousand and there could be a debate about
whether or not it is a 67 or 68 year. The case is coin silver and
original to the watch. This is a key wind and key set with the original
key or correct style, not a modern key. The single sunk original
porcelain dial has a chip, not seen between the 1 and 2 and two small
hairline cracks right there also. To the naked eye this is a mint
porcelain dial. The morning glory hands are original. The beveled glass
crystal is scratched a bit but original. This has been in my personal
collection for over 10 years. Comes with a one year service warranty and
is a fantastic investment simply for the rarity of the early date. Also
marked Jan. 1st, 1869 which is kind of cool. You really don't see that
often on pocket watches. Measures 58 mm wide.

Title: Hard to Find 21j Illinois Santa Fe Special
Description:
GOOD condition. Haven't seen many of these in 20 years of
collecting and dealing pocket watches. When I did, the prices were very
high. This circa 1923/24 16 size rail road grade watch has a fantastic
almost perfect double sunk porcelain dial with large bold Arabic
numerals. It does have some real tiny hairline cracks just under the
three and a real tiny chip over the 60 on the sub second dial which I
didn't even notice until I took these close-up photos. I can't quite see
them without magnification. The Illinois Watch Case Co. screw back,
screw bezel case is in decent shape but does show wear with a little bit
of brass showing and faint dings in the back. The acrylic crystal is in
good condition. The high grade American made movement has a double
roller, 21 jewels, gold flashed screws, large bi-metallic screw balance,
raised jewel settings held in place with gold flashed screws and is
adjusted to position and temperature. It has good poise and motion,
keeping good time. Measures 49 mm in diameter.

23j Waltham Vanguard RR Grade Pocket Watch
Description:
GOOD condition. Extremely affordable and I would be willing
to bet that you won't find another anywhere on the planet for this
price. Extremely clean movement with no corrosion, rust or washout. 23
jewel pocket watches are pretty hard to find and always expensive. This
is the most common model available and that is one reason it is not
double in price. Another is that the case is just OK. It is marked
Waltham Premier, Keystone and is gold filled with dings and pocket wear.
It is probably the original as there is only one set of case screw
marks. The Melamine dial also shows signs of age with some crazing and
fading of the text. This is a lever set watch which means that you must
unscrew the bezel and pull the lever out to set, using the crown. This
is a 16 size RR grade pocket watch in great shape, running well and
keeping good time, circa 1952. It is about 51mm in diameter.

Rare Waltham Pocket Watch w/Frosted
Movement
Serviced
Description:
EXCELLENT condition. This area of pocket watch collecting is wide
open and could be a lot of fun for a collector. The genre? Unusual and
scarce movements with non-typical attributes. Unusual demaskeening or
frosted plates like this 15j full nickel plated Waltham model 1883 made
in about 1888. Frosted finishes are also rarely found on the old gold
colored movements. Also notice the twin gold banking pin screws,
attractive blued plate screws, cut bi-metallic oversized screw balance,
screwed down chatons or jewel settings, fancy micro adjustment star
regulator and pretty star shaped etching (demaskeening). This is a two
piece swing out case. It is a little more resistant to moisture and dust
than three part screw bezel, screw back cases. It is also of original
manufacture with the patented trademark star and crescent. These cases
by themselves are valuable. It is smooth on the back with no markings. I
believe it is completely original which is rare for any pocket watch
this old. The original single sunk porcelain dial has two short
hairlines and one long one from the subsidiary seconds dial out to about
the two. The others are almost invisible below the sub dial. All are
very faint. Stem wound and stem set. Original thick beveled glass
crystal. This is an 18 size American and measures 58 mm wide 20 mm thick.

Beautiful 18k White Gold 12 Size Vacheron Constantin Vest Watch
Description:
EXCELLENT condition. An investment grade timepiece at a rock
bottom price, in my opinion. Hinged back, dust cover and snap on bezel
all in superb museum quality, made by American case maker E.E.R., Circa
1924. There is a little bit of wear under the gold bow and a few light
nicks and scuffs from normal use, especially near the case back opening
and dust cover opening areas. The silvered dial shows light age if in
the right light only. Between the 10 and 11. Period white gold filled
chain is very nice would would easily bring $100 separately as would the
fantastic and well made black lacquered Howard pocket watch box with
paper included. Our Vacheron fits perfectly into it as it was made for a
12s watch also (the Howard box). Of course, the main attraction of a
watch like this is the high grade and unique movement which features
wolf's teeth winding and crown wheels, capped escape wheel pivot and
capped balance staff for a total of 18 jewels, gold screw, split
bi-metallic two spoke balance and marked 8 adjustments. Recently
serviced by the previous owner and keeping excellent time.
Measures 45.5 mm wide 9 mm thick. The crystal is acrylic.

Title: Fantastic
Two-Tone 18s Waltham PS Bartlett
Serviced
Description:
EXCELLENT condition. I really wish I could keep this gorgeous
watch for myself as display cases are rare and really awesome because
you can show friends and co-workers the best part about your old pocket
watch, without taking it apart or opening the back. This case is
unsigned (some have the manufacturers name on one or both bezels) and
has two beveled glass crystals which is about a $70 value or cost of
replacement if needed. Glass crystals for common sizes are getting hard
to find and therefore more expensive. They are no longer made and the
supply is limited. The porcelain dial is almost perfect with one, nearly
invisible short hairline going across 8 to the subsidiary seconds dial.
Pendant/stem set, not lever set which is easier to operate. The 17j
two-tone PS Bartlett movement was made in 1906 by Waltham, an American
company and has several virtues besides the attractive demaskeening
(light decorations) and gold color in the center and on the balance
assembly bridge. Their is no corrosion, scratches or even much sign of
servicing (washout of color or burrs on screw heads). The star regulator
is gold as are the jewel settings and even the chatons (small screws)
holding them in place. The center wheel jewel setting is raised. The
balance has excellent motion and this watch has been fully serviced,
oiled and timed by one of our watchmakers and is keeping excellent
time (another $75 value). Measures 56 mm wide (not including the
crown) 18 mm thick.

Waltham Broadway movement with 7 jewels, blue screws and a key wound

Beautiful Rare Waltham Display Model 1883
Frosted Mvmt
Description:
GOOD condition. This is one of the nicest 18s pocket watches
I have ever seen or owned. As you know, pocket watches are usually
discussed and graded in three parts. This unique display or salesman's
sample case is very rare in an 18s and with hinged front and back. It
has nice "old stock" thick glass crystals on each hinged lid. This is a
lever set time piece which means you must pry open the front bezel (ring
around the crystal) at the lip seen at the 5 and then pull out the
lever, also at the 5. Then you can simply turn the crown to set the
hands. Although the case is original to itself (not made up of parts) it
is not original to this dial and movement as they are for a hunters
case. Hunter cased watches have the 3 at the crown. The best part of
this watch is the Circa 1889 blue screw frosted Appleton, Tracy and Co.
movement. It also has rare square demaskeening (light engraving, gold
jewel settings (some model 83's have brass), gold banking pin screws, a
large screw balance and blue plate screws and chatons. It runs great,
keeping good time. The single sunk porcelain dial is extra fancy but
does have one long crack from 11 to 7. Measures 56 mm wide x 20 mm thick.

Rare 21j South Bend "The Studebaker" RR Pocket Watch
Description:
VERYGOOD condition. A difficult watch to obtain in today's
growing market. Different than a Studebaker these rare watches have
"The" in front of the word and were made in much smaller runs. This is a
16 size American made watch with a nice triple hinged Dueber 20 year
gold filled case which shows no wear through to brass but does have a
few case opener's marks near the lip of the back and the cuvette (dust
cover). The beautiful back has an engine turned background and hand
engraved leafy type pattern over and above the open (unsigned)
cartouche. Even though we see no addition case/movement screw marks I
don't believe it is the original. The acrylic crystal is perfect but not
the original. The original double sunk porcelain dial does have a few
semi-circular hairline cracks near the 11. Looking at the gorgeous
bridge plated lever set movement we notice several virtues. It has
raised solid gold jewel settings held in place with screws, a double
roller, swan's neck regulator spring, a solid gold wheel train and
adjustments to temperature and in five positions. It measures 51
mm wide.

Elgin Pocket Watch Circa 1899

Description:
GOOD condition. Ever think that you could own a nice vintage
watch this old for under $125? Often called a sidewinder because the
movement and dial started life in a hunter case. The original single

arms length with its Roman numerals. Gold filled screw back case is in
decent shape but does have some brass showing near the bottom and edges.
This is an American made 15j watch with a nice bi-metallic, split screw
balance. It also has screwed down jewel settings and a safety pinion.

Cool Display Back Hampden Pocket Watch
Description:
GOOD/VERYGOOD condition. Not many pocket watches have cases where you
can see inside them without opening or removing the back. Sometimes
called salesmen's cases these are not often original to the watch but
used in a jewelers shop to easily show the beauty of the movement. Sweet
single sunk porcelain dial has no hairline cracks. The hands are
mismatched but both crystals are expensive beveled glass. The 17j
movement is real nice looking with fancy demaskeening (light engraving),
fancy regulator, blue screws, jewel settings held in place with screws,
large screw balance and a safety pinion. One caveat for the watch is
that it is a lever set and normally would have been housed in a hunter
case or closed case. You remove the bezel and pull out the lever at four
to set the watch, turning the crown to move the hands and then push the
lever back in and replace the snap on bezel. Measures 52 mm wide 19 mm thick.

around by dealers. We have fully serviced, oiled and timed the
high grade 17 jewel Zenith movement and it runs like a champ with superb
motion and poise. The silver colored case is signed Zenith and marked

Rare 18s Seth Thomas Model II PW, Circa 1887
Serviced
Description:
VERYGOOD condition. I really wish I had a fancy gold case for
this gorgeous rare beauty. We don't change cases often but I would just
keep it as this is one of the coolest open designs I've seen, especially
for an American made watch. It has a large gold flashed mainspring
barrel sticking right out there and a cut-out type nickel plated and
damaskeened, blue screw 3/4 plate movement which has 15 jewels, a
balance staff cap stone, fine regulation, blue screw chatons, large
split bi-metallic compensated screw balance, Breguet overcoil blued
hairspring and safety pinion. You can really see how the power of the
mainspring transfers down the wheel train to the balance assembly.
Decent gold filled box hinged hunter case does have a line of
wear-through to brass on the front. An Elk is on the back. The original
single sunk Seth Thomas signed porcelain dial is fantastic and looks
perfect but under a loupe I found a semi-circular crack from the edge of
the two to the edge of the three. This watch has been fully serviced,
oiled and regulated. Measures 55 mm wide.

Rare Waltham Model 83 Frosted Movement PW
Description:
GOOD condition. Luckily we have a collector who is
sharing/selling some of his rare frosted and fancy movement pocket
watches to us. Look around on the net and try to find frosted movements
for sale. This gorgeous watch was made in 1887 according to the serial
number on the 17j Grade 35, Model 1883 American made movement. This is
the model and grade Casey Jones carried when he crashed his locomotive
in 1900. It has a nice gold
filled Fahey's No. 1 case with a screw on bezel and back. There is a
little brass (the next layer of metal under the gold) showing on the
edge of the back not seen with the naked eye. The crystal is glass and
probably original as it does have quite a few light scuffs. The original
Arabic numeral double sunk porcelain dial is nearly so with some very
faint hairlines which I didn't even see when I bought it. Glass or
porcelain dials are works of art all by themselves as they are hand
painted, decorated, glazed, fired and polished the old fashioned way.
The special movement has solid gold jewel settings which have beautiful
blued screws holding them in place, a fancy star regulator, safety
pinion and a large bi-metallic split balance with gold balance screws.
Best of all we see the special polished demaskeening/decoration and rare
frosted remainder. Runs fine with good motion. Large bow. Measures 55 mm wide.

Sweet Multi Colored Dial Frosted Model 83 Waltham
Description:
VERYGOOD condition. Really nice piece for the money with
three great attributes. A super gorgeous pink, green, gold and red
porcelain dial. A large silverode screw back, screw bezel case with a
train engraved on the back and a fancy frosted Model 1883 Waltham
movement. The serial number dates this movement to 1886 and it has blue
screws and a frosted movement which is much prettier in person than in
the photos. Frosted movements are rare and we sell them here sometimes
at $350 and up. Colored dials are very expensive and most pw's with them
sell for $500 and up. Train cases too are rare and this watch has all
three. The balance has good motion and it keeps good time. Glass crystal
too. Pendant set/stem set not lever set which makes it easy. Finally,
perfect porcelain dials add a lot of value and this dial does have
cracks. They are hard to see with the naked eye but easy with a loupe,
especially in the right light. One goes from 7 to 4 and one from 9 over
to the 2. Again, these are real hard to see with the naked eye even if
close to the face. Measures 59 mm wide x 20 mm thick.

Beautiful 18s Waltham Appleton, Tracy and Co. Model 1883
Description:
GOOD condition. Made in about 1907 this large American
watch is all about the movement. The original porcelain dial has Arabic
numerals but also many hairline cracks. It does look a little better in
person than the close ups tend to show. This is a lever set watch and
that means that one must unscrew the bezel with its original glass
crystal and pull out the lever at 2. The rolled gold plated case is
pretty nice with no dings and not much wear either. Some of the things
we like about model 1883's are the large amount of demaskeening
(engraving), the gorgeous solid gold jewel settings with a raised center
wheel setting, the fancy regulator and the fancy black lettering
decorations. Sometimes we see missing paint in this text but all is here
on this watch. This is all original to itself as we don't put together
pocket watches although we find them with different cases sometimes. You
can tell by matching the case/movement screws. The large screw balance
has excellent motion and our watchmaker has checked it out for any
problems. It has 17 jewels and is adjusted. Measures 35.5 mm wide (not including the

Really Cool Columbus Watch Co. Display Case PW
Description:
VERYGOOD condition. Made in 1889 according to the serial
number and most recently published serial number dating lists. This is
fun old pocket watch in that it has been put into a hard to find
salesman's sample or display case. I guess it could have been in this
case originally as we don't see an extra set of case/movement screw
marks where another movement might have been but I am unsure to be
honest. It is a lever set time piece which means that you must pop off
the snap on bezel to set the time. Typical configuration for rail road
grade watches of the time to help keep the hands in place avoiding
accidental setting. The 15 or 16 jewel movement (I see what appears to
be 15 jewels if you assume each pinion is balanced with another jewel on
the pillar plate side and add one roller jewel and two pallet fork
jewels) is marked safety pinion, adjusted and Columbus Watch Co., and
Columbus Ohio. It has a nickel finish, jewel settings held in place with
screws, a large screwed balance and a cool regulator among other
virtues. The original porcelain dial is flawless which is rare for any
pocket watch of this age. The morning glory hands are an added feature
and could also be original as the type is typical of the era. One
caveat, the crown is worn down very smooth and a bit hard to wind. The
two thin crystals are very nice and made of glass. A fantastic watch
which is a bit unusual considering how few of them were made, the
condition and age. Runs great, keeping superb time according to our
timing machine which says it is about 3-6 seconds slow per day in three
positions, consistently. Measures 55 mm wide (not including the
crown) x 16 mm thick.

Rare 24hr Longines GCT 21.29 w/Up Down Wind Indicator
Description:
EXCELLENT condition. Sweet! I wish I didn't have to sell

case which is unusual as most I've seen have cheap base metal military
contract cases. All original with some black spots on the dial near the
center pinion. Superb high grade 21 jewel, adjusted movement which tells
military or 24hr time, not normal 12 hr time like most watches. Long
center second hand is also unusual in pocket watches. Wind indicator
above the GCT is rare in any pocket watch and American wind indicators
sell for 1k and up. Beautiful high grade movement has a fancy regulator,
cap jewels, gold settings held in place with screws, oversized screw
balance, polished escape wheel bridge and other advantages I have
probably overlooked. It keeps excellent time. Made in the early 1050's.
Hacks also (second hand stops for setting). Original thin glass crystal. Measures 54 mm wide (not including the
crown) x 20 mm thick.

Attractive 14k Hamilton "917" Gold Pocket Watch
Description:
EXCELLENT condition. Sweet mid-sized dress or vest watch as
they were called in the old days. Made for men to wear in a vest pocket
on a three piece suit. Solid yellow gold with a three piece snap back
case and a gorgeous Caliber 917 hand wound and American made movement.
Almost nearmint but the original dial shows a little age in some light
spotting here and there as well as a little age on the hands. All
original and keeping good time. A really nice watch which is priced just
over spot for the amount of gold in it. Perfect case with stepped bezel
and back. Compare this very cool vintage 1940's pocket watch with prices
for similar gold wrist watches! Still undervalued genre in my opinion. Measures 44 mm wide x 10 mm thick.

Extra Nice Burlington Special HC w/Montgomery Dial
AS FOUND
Description:
GOOD/VERYGOOD condition. Hunter cased pocket watches are harder
to find and more valuable than open face pw's especially in higher
grades. This is a 19 jewel, three finger bridge American made beauty
with all original parts including the double sunk porcelain Montgomery
(fancy colored outer minute track) dial, Burlington signed gold filled
case with see through cuvette (dust cover) included. Average to good
case condition with some small dings and pocket wear but no wear-through
to brass. The lid flips up perfectly. Lever set with lever at four. The
three finger bridge movement has extra fancy demaskeening and is a real
killer in person. Your eyes will pop out as these pictures didn't
capture how pretty it is with its checkered pattern and its exposed
solid gold wheel train, screwed in jewel settings, swans neck regulator,
adjusted to temperature and position with safety pinion, nearmint
American made movement. No hairlines or chips in the dial either. Way
undervalued brand in the vintage American pocket watch market. Keeps

Extra Nice Hamilton 992 Elinvar RR Pocket Watch
Description:
EXCELLENT condition. Very nice watch with a fantastic bar
over crown (signed Hamilton Railroad) scarce Model #8 RR case, mint double sunk porcelain
dial which has bold Arabic numerals and a near perfect 21 jewel Elinvar
movement. Although the case shows no wear through to brass the
screw back does have a couple of tiny dings, not seen in the photos. A
new acrylic crystal is installed. The 992 was the first widely
recognized RR watch with the 992B following in the middle part of the
20th century. It has some nice features like solid gold jewel settings
held in place with screws, a solid gold center wheel which has a raised
cupped jewel setting (also gold), gold screw balance wheel, gold script, double
roller, Elinvar hairspring and a swan's neck fine regulation system. A
spot is on the mainspring wheel and some faint burr marks on screw
heads. Three service marks in the back. Some market research shows
several on-line sources with this model selling for much more, up to
$1000. And, if you are not aware of it the separate components sell for
much more when parted. Just the mint dial and excellent case alone would
easily bring this on ebay. Measures 50 mm wide.

hairlines easily visible. It does have several hairline cracks though
and thus the reduced price. Still a great price for an 16 size early
American made pocket watch. The gold filled case is nicely
engraved and in good condition with no wear through. Original glass
crystal. Made in about 1888. The 11j to 7j Elgin movement has pretty
blued screws and a safety pinion. The bow is solid gold and does show

Nice Hunter Cased E. Howard Bridge Plate PW
Description:
GOOD condition. Hunter case pocket watches are the
first to collect or for collectors to hoard. They have more value (in
general), the cases, because they wear and cannot be replaced. In other
words, once the original case is worn out the watch is basically a
movement only or non original. That is why we see so many hc movements
in open face cases. Anyway, this is a nice dress size (14 size American)
with an engine turned front cover with an open cartouche for initials.
It has pocket wear and the engine turned back has a couple of small
dings. Notice the extra fancy cuvette or dust cover too which keeps the
movement very dry and clean. Measures 48 mm wide x 11 mm thick.

Hamilton 4992B, 24hr Military Issue
w/Original Canister
Description:
EXCELLENT condition. A fantastic watch to own and invest in as
they are still somewhat unknown and reasonably priced. Can't go wrong
with the aesthetics either. Just look at the fine workmanship of the
American made 22 jewel movement by clicking on the image to the left.
Watch making did not get much better than in this era (1952). True 24hr
movement makes one revolution per day and has a center second which is
rare in pocket watches. All original with little wear but some
smoothness on the US military marked base metal screw back, screw bezel
case. Heavy iron canister has felt pad suspended in springs to softly
hold the watch and shield from magnetic influence. Runs great and is a
pleasure to own, display and even carry. Measures 50 mm wide.

Original Waltham 23j Up Down all Canadian,

Description:
VERYGOOD/NEARMINT condition. Will sell quickly because of condition and
originality. Sold in Canada for a Canadian RR conductor or
engineer. We know because of the special "Canadian" dial with 13-24 on
the inner level. This is a triple sunk porcelain dial in perfect
condition and all by itself might claim $350 or more from a collector.
But, it goes with this original Canadian made gold filled rail road case
in excellent shape (some light nicks and a flat almost imperceptible
large ding), original thin glass crystal and superb original 23j Lossier
Inner Terminal Hairspring, diamond end stone Waltham Vanguard with solid
gold raised jewel settings and a gold center wheel. See photo by

21j Railroad Grade Hamilton 992 w/Bar over
Crown Case
Description:
VERYGOOD condition. 20th century American pocket watches are
best graded in three parts. This watch is original in my opinion as the
condition of each corresponds with its overall age and wear. The double
sunk porcelain RR dial has one repaired chip on the inside dial at
the tip of the subsidiary seconds hand. It is a very nice job and hardly
noticeable. No hairlines or other age/damage. The original RR bar over
crown yellow gold filled case has considerable pocket wear and faint
dents in the back. It is in three parts, screw on bezel which holds the
crystal and must be removed to set the watch, middle body which houses
the movement, dial and provides for the stem, crown and bow and finally
the screw on back. The world renown American made 21 jewel Hamilton
Grade 992 movement features solid gold jewel settings, a large screw
balance, double roller, adjusted to heat, isochronism and positions and
a solid gold center wheel. It is in excellent condition but does have
old stains from corrosion, years ago on the mainspring wheel. See
close-up photo by clicking on the image to the left. A decent all
original Circa 1932 watch (which is hard to find from a dealer these
days) and at a good price. A new acrylic crystal has been installed. Measures 50 mm wide
or 16 size American x 15mm thick.

21j Hamilton 992B Railroad Grade Pocket
Watch
Description:
EXCELLENT condition. The next best thing after the 992 from
Hamilton and the best known RR grade pocket watch of all time is the
992B from a bit later in history. Some differences noticeable are
pressed jewels and the solid gold plate bridges on the escape wheel and
pallet fork. Click on the image to the left for close-ups. All around
the condition is very nice with some normal pocket wear and a very
small nick/ding in the back but no brass showing on the three piece
Hamilton case. It is probably the original. The nice Montgomery
style dial is Swiss made and a fairly modern replacement. Acrylic
crystal. Extra sharp and shiny (no corrosion) high grade American made
movement runs fine. Measures 50 mm wide (not including the
crown) x 00 mm long x 00 mm thick.

Title:
One of a Kind Monster OF/HC 18k
Transitional English Fusee
Serviced
Description:
EXCELLENT/NEARMINT condition. This style of rare pocket watch is important
because of the unusual and intricate case work. It can be both an open
face and a closed face/hunter watch depending on what you want. A
special mechanism hinges the inner encapsulated body of the watch for
a 180 degree flip inside the outer body/frame, bezels and lids. Click on
the image to the left and you will see how this process works. There is
a small button on the side of the inner case which will release it for a
turn. One side is the crystal and dial, the other a beautifully engraved
landscape with sail boats. Two backs plus a dust cover and all the other
material needed to construct this case adds up to a lot of 18k yellow
gold. Our watchmaker has fully serviced, oiled and timed this
1870's chain driven English Fusee movement. It runs fine and is in the
same condition as the case, almost perfect and unused. James Hoddell and
Co. were well known in this large watch and clock making location
in London, Northampton Square. The two holes in the dust cover are used
for setting and winding the watch. No original keys exist although I
have some special old keys I have saved from this era which I might show
you and include. New keys which fit perfectly will also be included.
This special heirloom quality antique pocket watch is well priced for
its rarity and condition. In the last 15 years of collecting I have seen
only one other case like this. It sold for $2500 10 years ago with no
movement in it. I believe our watchmaker weighed this at over 80
grams of 18k gold without its movement. Original glass crystal and
perfect single sunk porcelain dial.
