Title: Very Rare British Broad Arrow Artillery Chronograph Description: EXCELLENT condition. Nearly one of a kind this type of chronograph was made specifically for pilots and other military timers like gunners who where able to determine the range of enemy artillery units. Factory modified with no hour or minute hand and Valjoux's special GHT hand wound chronograph movement featuring 17 jewels and 18,000 bph (beats per hour). According to Ziggy this type was issued to the British Army's Air Observation Post crews. The 1/5 signifies the ability to record timing intervals to one fifth of a second and although the TP is not completely understood most agree it means Temporary Pattern as most war time chronographs have a patt. #3139 style mark (pattern number). Superb shape with the original finish on the all steel case. Most military watches were made of chrome plated base metals to save resources making steel much rarer. Wire lugs ensured that the watch would not break free from your wrist. The painted metal dial is original and perfect except for some flaking down at the bottom. A brand new Hadley Roma black cuff strap is attached. Measures 36.5 mm wide (not including the crown) x 43 mm long x 14 mm thick. {$1075} Item #4723 SOLD
