21j Hamilton Railway Special 992B EXCELLENT condition. Gorgeous, all original iconic American made time piece. One of the best in the world, seriously. Then or now. Why do you think a 992B brings $500 or more? It is not a wristwatch. It is a secret lost several generations ago but American made pocket watches are works of art. They easily kept and still keep time with more expensive European "chronometer" grade models. Our watches were chronometer grade, many of them but we call it adjusted. The more adjustments and positions the better. Why does this watch keep near perfect time? Steel escape wheel, large mono-metallic split screw balance and an overcoil Breguet hairsprings or later, Elinvar Extra hairsprings. Micro-metric regulator, gold settings. Adjusted to a 4th,5th and 6th position, temperature and isochronism. Dust and water resistant cases (screw on bezels and backs). Sub second hand movement is prone to less error and has fewer parts. This watch has a more desirable 950B model A case, little to no wear and most often seen on those rare 23j, two thousand dollar watches. Also outfitted originally on 992B's. Original beveled glass crystal. Original melamine dial does have cracks. Original hands. Lever set so it can't accidentally be changed (because of rail road timekeeping safety rules and specifications). This is a 16 size American and measures about 52 mm in diameter.
