Title: Hamilton Thin o Matic

Description: EXCELLENT condition coming soon. Have you ever purchased rare coins or fine diamonds? If so, have you ever seen a seller of such without a loupe or some sort of powerful magnification? The reason is grade and condition. For beginners, mid-level collectors, busy inexperienced buyers or even some experts, the importance of condition is overlooked. This 1960's yellow gold filled Hamilton automatic is a good watch for me to use as an example. It is very nice and in good condition. It appears in the photos and to the naked eye, to be in nearmint condition. Wayne has gone through the Buren (Hamilton purchased Buren in 1966) Caliber 1000A micro-rotor automatic movement, checked it for problems and regulated it. It is a rare, extra thin movement developed by Buren in 1954 and only 4.2 mm thick. He has also lightly buffed the case which is referenced at E34469 on the inside. My job, is to inform my customers what they are looking at, including a PRECISE measure of the condition. For watches, I expect most collectors want it in three parts. Dial, case and movement. With magnification one will see plenty of light nicks on this case and some wear-through to brass (or whatever Hamilton used for the inner layer of their gold filled cases/see this article to learn more about the process in general <HERE> on the inside of the lugs where a bracelet was attached for a good deal of time. Too small to see without a loupe or magnification. The dial is the original Swiss made dial as is all of this watch and looks great. It has a two tone color and some very faint signs of age in the form of some almost invisible brown or light brown spots in three places, very small, not seen at all without magnification and a couple or three of what I consider watchmaker's scratches or scuffs. These show silver or the dial metal. The movement is the same. Good condition, running fine and keeping good time. This isn't code for a worn out watch, btw! It is just a lesson on what is the most important factor, in my opinion when buying most antiques or even fine goods. This is where my margin should come from, not from the ability or desire to fool the public but from my 20 years of experience, the first 6 as a collector only and also from the additional value this website provides like our guarantees and warranties to name a few. If a seller is not giving a precise detailed condition report, I would avoid them. Measures 34 mm wide (not including the crown) x 43 mm long x 9 mm thick. {$229} Item #6140 SOLD
