Heavy Silver Hampden Fixed Lug GOOD/VERYGOOD condition. Sterling silver from 100 years ago or so. If worn on the left wrist with hands at 10 and 2 on your steering wheel, this dial points up and is easier to read, so it goes. Conversion wrist watches were made when men first started using them instead of pocket watches, some in WW I, often called trench watches. They (Hamden and other manufacturers) used ladies pocket watch movements and this is what our Hamden has in it. The serial number dates it to about 1915. It runs great, keeping good time and has 7 jewels that I can count. The case is marked Sterling .925 and has a cool inscription on the back. It has a nice patina and you might like to know (I would if I were a potential buyer) that the shiny bezel is a replacement and not silver but probably chrome plated metal as it is not oxidized like the silver parts. It has a nice beveled and thick glass crystal and that covers the original porcelain dial which would have originally contained radium painted Arabic numerals. One faint hairline can barely be seen with the naked eye. Original hands in my opinion. Well built and very affordable considering the replacement bezel. Measures 32 mm wide (not including the crown) x 40 mm long x 10 mm thick. {$275} Item #6313 SOLD
