Title: Rare Illinois Major, Circa 1920's Description: VERYGOOD condition. What a beautiful large watch from the early 20th century. The three piece case is white gold filled and in good shape, especially for Illinois watches which because of their age often have well worn cases. This model is one of the largest for the genre and in wonderful overall condition with a gorgeous dial. Not sure if it is an original or an old refinish, probably the latter but if you look closely at the hands you will see that they are quite old with cracking in the luminescent material which at this time in history would have to be radium. I think that there is a good chance that the dial is original, which would make this price very low. I just saw a Major online with a refinished dial priced at $895! The attractive hand wound American made Illinois movement has 17 jewels, solid gold train (wheels) no corrosion, beautiful demaskeening/movement decoration, raised jewel settings and keeps good time. It dates to 1928 which is the first year this model was introduced. The crystal is perfect. So is the crown. A brand new Hadley Roma lizard skin strap is attached and has a stainless steel buckle to match the white gold filled case. Measures 31 mm wide (not including the crown) x 37 mm long x 11 mm thick. {$675} Item #5361 SOLD
