Description: NEARMINT condition. Believe it or not, this watch came from a little old lady in Pasadena. She brought it into the shop of a watchmaker friend a few years ago. He wore it for awhile then sold it. What is special about it besides the provenance I've just mentioned, is the condition. You may or may not know but many dealers call buffed or refurbished watches nearmint. Once a watch, steel or gold has been buffed, its original finish is lost forever. That is one reason this fine Patek Philippe, click here....sold for such a high price. Never buffed. Same here. Never ever buffed. There are numerous micro fine scuffs, some light scratches and a few tiny nicks. Most are visible only upon close examination but the polished lug tops show these scuffs the clearest. The rare beaded bezel rotates, and is in perfect condition. Steel snap on back is marked 972431 (circa 1963) on the inside, for collector reference. 806 on the outside of the back is the model number. As you can clearly see in our photos, the AOPA dial matches the overall condition. With an old tool watch (used by pilots) of this type, finding a dial which looks almost new is very difficult. Some specs of dirt can be seen on the outside of the case in our close-up photos as I've not cleaned the external portion. A damp cloth will easily get it and I'll do that before shipment. But, you can also see just how little wear it has. Look at the shot between the lugs. All original. Nothing has been changed, exchanged or replaced. The acrylic crystal could even be the original as it is the correct thin slightly domed style which has no bevel. A crystal with a beveled edge (modern replacements sometimes have this) can interfere with reading of the outer rotating bezel. Comes on a brand new Hadley Roma 886 but also has a modern Breitling strap, well used and a Breitling steel buckle. Both were added by the watchmaker who purchased it from the lady. That is the original box also which may come as a surprise considering we all expect a square box these days. I will throw in a one year warranty on the perfect pink Breitling (Venus Caliber 178) hand wound movement and most of our customers already know this but when anyone who has purchased a watch from us needs help, we do it.
