Title: Sweet and Rare 1953 SS Omega Constellation Serviced

Description: EXCELLENT condition. This fantastic early chronometer grade Omega Constellation has been completely refurbished by Wayne our watchmaker. The 17j Omega, swan's neck fine regulation, Caliber 354 automatic bumper wind movement has been fully serviced, oiled and timed and comes with a one year service warranty. Wayne has also installed a brand new acrylic crystal and seals for both the crown and the back. The steel case has a water proof slotted screw back with a nice solid gold observatory. The case reference #2652-7SC is one of two first generation introductory Constellation models and as a screw back opposed to a friction fitted or snap back which gives it a higher value as a water proof model. Pretty sharp case condition even with a light buffing. One of the ways to find age is to look inside and on the back of the lugs for wear from bracelet contact. None here. Could have always had a strap but from my experience most watches from the period were sold with bracelets. The holed lugs are long and easy to change straps using a paper clip to push out the spring bars. The dial is black and has been refinished. We've been using (rarely) a quality dial refinisher in Canada but I'm afraid he fouled this one up by not including all of the original text. This was my watch, from my cabinets and the original dial had the correct "chronometer, officially certified" text just below Omega. Not sure why he dropped the ball on this one but I didn't notice this until Wayne had finished his work. A refinished dial lowers the value for astute collectors and honest dealers so my price reflects that and the value from my perspective is attached to the overall aesthetics, early model and fine condition. The crown is from old stock and in new condition and is the correct style for this period, according to my collection of advertising material. This model with a black cross hair dial and no date is one of the most attractive watches Omega ever made and it is also fairly large for the genre when many watches were 32 to 34 mm in diameter. A brand new Hadley Roma dark blue shark skin (MS 2016) strap and a brand new stainless steel genuine Omega buckle is attached. This rare early model Connie is very collectable and when we can get them, they sell very quickly. See this nice example which flew out of the shop within days of listing. Click here. It was item #5229, over 500 watches back and sold a year ago so as you can see, our price for this nicer version in steel is very fair especially considering how fast rare Omega watches have appreciated in value recently. Measures 35 mm wide (not including the crown) x 42 mm long x 11 mm thick. {$1075} Item #5768 SOLD
