Rare 18k Yellow Gold Rolex Ovettone, Circa 1949

EXCELLENT condition. There are not many of these large watches on the market from what I can see. It has been that way for some time as astute collectors hold on to the rarest and most desirable pieces. One of the reasons this watch is so popular is the monstrous case. For the time, it was very large and even today, the size is pretty substantial. They are heavy, tonneau shaped oyster cases (reference 6075 on inside back and between lugs) with thick screw on backs and thin coin edge, milled bezels. I say "they" as several different reference numbers and models use this large gold oyster case. The star dialed triple date moon phase sells for about 75k with an original dial and uses this exact case design (reference #6062). Original dials are more important then you could imagine when evaluating market prices of the best collectables. Up to 30% of the total value in my opinion can be attributed to original dials on valuable and rare watches. This original gold dial has Rolex Oyster Perpetual Datejust in fine original black print over the center pinion and Officially Certified Chronometer under. Gold rimmed date window with alternating red and black (original) date wheel. 18k gold applied arrow markers and coronet. Thin line of lum thru the center of the original gold hands and tiny luminescent dots on the outside of each indice. The finely detailed minute chapter is slightly sunk and has a different hue, satin-ish. The super oyster crown is signed and correct and most likely the original as they are very rare. Some micro fine nicks on the bezel and other signs of normal use like buffings/smoothness of edges and light loss of the reference and serial numbers between the lugs. Wayne is going over this watch for evaluation and it will come with a one year warranty on the covered Rolex Auto Rotor movement. It is also on a brand new Hadley Roma MS 2010 Caiman Crocodile strap.
