Fantastic 6 Size 1892 Year Old Waltham Hunter
EXCELLENT condition.
Sweet looking stem wind and stem set pocket watch from 1898. Made in America when our watches rivaled any made anywhere. Unusual combo polished case front and back with hand carved individual flora on each and highly engraved middle body. Gold filled but no wear through or much signs of age/use. The single sunk porcelain dial is without flaw and has a gorgeous set of painted Roman numerals all the way around the dial. The front lid opens by pushing down on the crown. The spring device works perfectly. Depress the crown again while closing to avoid unwanted wear to the inside of the lip where it latches. The bow is perfectly round showing about 10% wear underneath ( a good place to gauge use/wear as most pocket watches were kept on chains). The high grade (especially for the time) 15j movement dates to about 1898 and was probably an upgrade as it is six years newer than the cuvette (dust cover) date. Measures 40 mm wide 8 mm thick. {$269} Item #6362
